I came across a great editorial (http://www.abyssandapex.com/200904-editorial.html) today by Wendy S. Delmater, Editor-In-Chief of the online semipro zine Abyss & Apex (http://www.abyssandapex.com/). Her very sensible suggestion is to change the Hugo categories to fix the purported problem (that Locus wins the semipro zine award every year). Her suggested split also makes great sense to me--separating the semipro zines that mainly publish fiction from those who only publish non-fiction and reviews.

If you're interested in this issue (and if you're a reader or a writer of semipro zines, I think you should be interested), read her full editorial here (http://www.abyssandapex.com/200904-editorial.html), and visit Save the Semipro Zine Hugo (http://semiprozine.org/) to learn how you can help.

Sounds like common sense advice. Which makes me wonder if it will be followed, haha. I hope so. I think it would be a mistake to lose this category.
