This is an exciting new venture and I agree it fills a gap in the marketplace. I'm especially happy about your willingness to consider longer pieces, as there aren't many markets for longer fantasy pieces.

What I wonder is how you plan to keep the bills paid. Will it be advertising? Anthology sales? Or do you plan to have fund drives a la Strange Horizons?

Thanks! The finances are based on the non-profit model, like Strange Horizons. They've done a great job, and they're still going strong after seven or so years.

I was wondering about this as well, looking for the donate button or an ad box to help support the magazine. It's great that you're offering such a high-quality professional magazine for free to readers!

Thanks very much! We will have a donate button soon, hopefully by the first of next year, once our corporate status is finalized. I'm grateful for any donations, and they will all go to support the writers and the fiction appearing in BCS.
