Editor Rich Horton had high praise for BCS in his year-end review of the magazine. He said we “routinely publish fine adventure fantasy” and “have become a really important source of fantasy.”

The novelettes he praised by name included Holly Phillips’s “Thieves of Silence”, Sarah L. Edwards’s “The Tinyman and Caroline”, K. D. Wentworth’s “The Orangery”, and others by Aliette de Bodard, Matthew David Surridge, P. E. Cunningham, and Jonathan Wood.

The short stories he really liked included Grace Seybold’s “Unrest”, Tony Pi’s “Silk and Shadow”, T. D. Edge’s “System, Magic, Spirit”, Marie Brennan’s “Driftwood”, and Saladin Ahmed’s “Where Virtue Lives”.

Thank you, and congratulations to those authors!
