“To Kiss the Granite Choir” by Michael Anthony Ashley, from BCS #27-28, got a great review in Abigail Nussbaum’s review of 2009 short fiction in Strange Horizons (at the bottom of the page).

Among other high praise, she said “To Kiss the Granite Choir” was notable among short fiction “for being a fully, even elaborately realized secondary world fantasy.”

Nussbaum also nominated “To Kiss the Granite Choir” for a Hugo Award for Best Novella.
