BCS #109 is out today, featuring stories by Gregory Norman Bossert and John E.O. Stevens, both authors new to BCS. The BCS Audio Fiction Podcast is on hiatus for a few issues. In the meantime, peruse our episodes from last winter for audio fiction by E. Catherine Tobler, Tom Crosshill, Yoon Ha Lee, and more.
The “From the Archives” story for this issue (shown in the RSS feed and email subscriber mails) is “The Orangery” from BCS #12, by K.D. Wentworth.
Ms. Wentworth, who passed away last summer, was well-known to neo-pro and aspiring SF/F short fiction writers via the Writers of the Future contest: she read all the entries, chose the Quarterfinalists, Semifinalists, and Finalists, and wrote the critiques that Semifinalists received.
“The Orangery” is lyrical, vivid, and engagingly strange, with a somewhat similar feel as “The Telling.” We hope you enjoy it on its own or as a counterpart to “The Telling,” and also as a memorial to Ms. Wentworth and her contributions to the field.
