Locus online short fiction reviewer Lois Tilton’s 2012 year-end review of short fiction magazines included some very complimentary mentions of BCS authors’ work in other magazines.

In On Spec, she singled out “Long Leap” by Derek Künsken. In Interzone, she recommended “Twember” by Steve Rasnic Tem and “The Philosophy of Ships” by Caroline M. Yoachim.

Among online ‘zines, in Clarkesworld she singled out “Scattered Along the River of Heaven” by Aliette de Bodard,  “The Battle of Candle Arc” by Yoon Ha Lee, and “(To See the Other) Whole Across the Sky” by E. Catherine Tobler.

In Subterranean, she mentioned “The Least of the Deadly Arts” and in Apex “Murdered Sleep,” both by by Kat Howard. In Journal of Unlikely Entomology, she praised “The Famous Fabre Fly Caper” by M. Bennardo.

And in the preface to her entire summary, she singled out two standout writers for the whole year:  E. Catherine Tobler, not only for her fiction but as the new editor of Shimmer, and M. Bennardo.
