BCS #140 is out today, featuring an epic fantasy novelist, a returning BCS author, and a signed novel giveaway.

Brian McClellan’s “The Face in the Window” follows one of the major characters in his “flintlock fantasy” epic Powder Mage Trilogy, set in a secondary world that combines gunpowder technology with magic.

Alec Austin (“Blood Remembers” in BCS #117; “Casualties” in BCS #110) returns with “Atonement,” another dark story of war and its effects on the participants.

The BCS Audio Fiction Podcast episode is BCS 119: Evensong, Having Been Answered by Dean Wells, a story of odd iterations from BCS #139, set in the strange mechano-steampunk setting of his previous BCS stories including “To the Gods of Time and Engines, a Gift” in BCS #80 and podcast BCS 071.

The ‘From the Archives’ story with BCS #140 is “Ink and Blood” by Marko Kloos from BCS #74, a tale that like “The Face in the Window” blends post-industrial technology with magic.

In conjunction with “The Face in the Window,” we are giving away two copies of the UK paperback of Brian McClellan’s first Powder Mage novel, Promise of Blood, signed and personalized by Brian! Get the details and enter here.
