A.J. Lucy has studied biochemistry, studio art, and holds a PhD in developmental biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she did research on the eggs of tiny fish. Her fiction can be found in Daily Science Fiction, Strange Horizons, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies, while her scientific work is published in journals such as PLoS Genetics and Developmental Biology. Every summer, A.J. helps organize the Alpha Workshop for Young Writers, a twelve-day workshop held in July at the University of Pittsburgh’s Greensburg campus, where twenty teen writers learn from author guests such as Tamora Pierce, N.K.
